entrance to Leonard Middle School

Leonard Middle is now closed. The new and current middle grades 5-8 will now attend the new Francis M. Leahy Middle at 100 Erving Avenue in Lawrence, Massachusetts moving forward. The old historic James F. Leonard building will be use and fully occupied by RISE Academy that supports grades 9-12.

The Leonard Middle School is a small middle school housed in the James F. Leonard Building in an urban district of Lawrence, MA; serving 330 students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The building was named after a businessman and early mayor of the city.

The Leonard School was formerly called UP Academy Leonard several years ago when Lawrence Public Schools partnered with UP Education Network to help manager Leonard Schools grade 6-8. After the partnership was dissolved UP Academy Leonard became Leonard Middle School.

The Leonard Middle School is looking for staff who are interested in focusing on building an original school culture and are excited to bring their own teaching style to an energetic team. Leonard Middle School also provides a variety of leadership opportunities to represent educator voice in school wide decisions and craft goals for the future.
