Effective January 2026, Massachusetts Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Pedro Martinez appointed Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lauren Woo as receiver of Lawrence Public Schools. Dr. Woo assumed the oversight responsibilities previously fulfilled by the Lawrence Alliance for Education receivership board, and continues to work closely with Superintendent Carrero on successful implementation of the LPS Turnaround Plan and the Lawrence School Committee in support of the district’s return to local control.
